For its 13th participation to the International Heritage
Photographic Experience, the Institute for Walloon Heritage
wished to give a new lease of life for this visual approach of
the heritage by the organization of the first photographic
competition around Wallonia architectural heritage. Under the
theme ‘Communication through the architecture’, this latest
was aimed at young people from 10 to 21 years old and at
adults aged more than 22. The fluvial, road, rail and aeronautic
heritage was so credited.
A jury of specialists (photographs, historian, and art historian)
has appointed the 4 photographies honoured in the ‘young
people’ category. These are at 75% issued from courses
organized by the cities of Huy and Namur, the prize-winners are
between 11 and 15.
A travelling exhibition will show the best shots of this
competition by the side of the winner pictures from all countries
or regions participating to the IHPE. This one will be presented
in Mons from November and will end her tour of wallonian
provinces in September 2010 by the city of Huy having passed
by Brussels.
The awareness of the public, and especially of young people,
to the heritage belongs to the Institute for Walloon Heritage.
In this way, on last April 3, the 5th edition of the ‘Heritage and
Youth Day’ allowed to 1700 pupils to benefit free (of charge) of
a choice of monuments to be visited under the theme ‘Heritage
and Modernity’, subject of next Heritage Days scheduled
these 12th and 13th September 2009. In view of the success
encountered, this operation will be the subject of an entire
week of exceptional opening of the walloon architectural
heritage to the young people in 2010.
The Institute for Walloon Heritage, which celebrates its 10 years
in 2009, organises also trades heritage classes, at the attention
of teenagers between 12 and 15 and programs of educational
methods for architectural heritage and its trades intended
for future teachers developed at the Center for architectural
heritage « La Paix-Dieu ».
Wallonia will again have a place in this catalogue for her 14th
participation seeing that, from now, candidates can work for
2010 under the theme ‘Heritage and Light’… |
