For the fifth time, Denmark joins the International Heritage
Photographic Experience – IHPE. The IHPE is again this year
represented by Bygningskultur Danmark (Building Heritage
of Denmark). Bygningskultur Danmark is an organisation,
established with the purpose of spreading knowledge of our
building heritage. We anticipate to open the eyes for the built
part of our cultural heritage to the children and young ones,
who will participate in the event – not only in relation to the
monumental buildings, known to us all, but also in relation to
the more anonymous and humble buildings. They may not be
architectural wonders, but they form beautiful wholes in cities,
streets and open spaces. These buildings do not attract much
attention, but are some of the most important elements in our
immediate surroundings. Building heritage does not pertain to
monuments alone, and themes can be found everywhere – in
detail, surface, material, form, space, light and shadow. This
time, we have chosen to invite students from all over Denmark
- ranging from the 6th to the 9th grade – to participate in this
event. The tasks are widely defined, eg “my favourite building” or
“the hidden houses of the city”. |
