In the 13th Upper Silesian edition of International Heritage Photographic “Experience” Contest, once again students present high level photographic works. This time young artists searched the inspiration among the technical monuments, Jewish cemeteries as well as sacred architecture. Mr Andrzej Koniakowski, one of the competition judges, called this inspiration “the monuments’ magic”. “While sightseeing and visiting old undisclosed buildings, young people long for inspiring adventures and discoveries. Also the photograph sent for the consecutive contest can be considered discovering the ancient and beautiful things that surround us. The young and sensitive authors of prize works succeeded in finding their highly personal photographic treasure. The first prize of Wojciech Romański constitutes a triptych showing the staircase exquisitely contoured with the light, with the vibe of mysterious entries in the surrounding reality. The second award of Maja Ogonowska is the secret of the old keyhole that is beautifully captured in the photograph. The third prize of Cezary Rusinowski refers to the modernity shining with chromium, in which the beauty of an old building is reflected. That is the youthful vulnerability and the dreams that intertwine in these interesting pictures that are both technically and compositionally so good. It is worth organizing such photographic competitions whose effects surpass our imagination of the youth’s curiosity about the world. Thereby, the photographs taken are to be worth noticing and the message they convey is to be worth contemplating.” On a few pages of “Experience” catalogue, the best works of the Upper Silesian laureates are presented. We highly encourage everyone who takes it in their hands to let themselves be carried away by the magical charm of photography.
