Participating Countries

This is the fourth edition in which the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government, supports the participation of Basque students in the “ International Heritage Photographic Experience”. In the present times where everything is done fast and in a hurry, students are proposed an offer to perform an activity which consist precisely in the opposite, that is, that they stop for a moment and look around them, observe what is next to them, discover the Heritage in their environment, dive into the origins of their towns, submerge in its history and collect that “discovery” on an image. Although at the same time as they are asked to look inwards, they are also invited to open to the outside. To show, by means of their photographs those corners of their country which they managed to capture with the lens of their camera at a certain time and place and show it to the world, therefore transforming that “particular heritage” into a “common world heritage”. I would like to thank and congratulate both the education centres belonging to the Network of Centres associated to the UNESCO: the Ikastola Artxandape of Bilbao and the Ikastola Urrexu-Zumárraga, for their participation in this year’s edition of the “International Heritage Photographic Experience”. From this department, we are committed to continue supporting this type of initiatives that promote the exchange of experiences and educational projects among the different centres and between youths of different countries to therefore contribute to the mutual understanding of the different cultures and acknowledge the different people as a treasure of the entire humanity.
