The International Heritage Photographic Experience has been a resounding success this year, both in terms of the numbers of participants, in more than 50 countries, and in terms of quality, given the standard of the photographs taken both by students and by teachers.
For the last five years I have had the privilege to be a member of the competition jury, and this has given me the chance to see time and time again how the artistic quality of the work of participants of ten to seventeen years of age is in many cases comparable or superior to that of the teachers who also took part in the competition.
The new generations have been born into a digitalised world, and this is reflected in their skill in handling photographic equipment which is becoming ever more sophisticated, and by the quality of the images when they are printed on photographic paper.
On this occasion I would like to make special mention of the architect of the International Heritage Photographic Experience, Mr Esteve Mach, whose work over more than fifteen years has succeeded in making this event an unequivocal success. Time and again over these years he has transmitted his great enthusiasm and dedication to the event to me. Therefore, I want to congratulate him on my own behalf and on that of Starblitz for his work in taking the art of photography to the people and in arousing interest in our historic heritage amongst young people. |
